New slideshow: windsurfers’ paradise North Uist
September 4th, 2009 - MK
Another slideshow and another Hebridean isle. This time it’s North Uist with Ben Proffitt and Phil Horrocks. Brendan: ‘It was a great trip back in October 2006. We waited for a good forecast and we had a local contact which proved really useful. The best days wave sailing we had was at pretty much the remotest beach I have ever visited. First off you’re on a small island off West Scotland, you then have to wait for low tide, drive for a couple of miles over wet sand to another island/peninsula, drive over fields and hills, park the van and then walk. All the effort is worth it as you arrive at a completely untouched, clean and beautiful beach facing straight out into the north Atlantic; it even has great backdrop. As you can see from the photos the sailing is great and varied, the isle is stunning, in short: a windsurfing paradise!’
