Video cameras and windsurfing don’t mix…

Sandy cam - click for more.. A couple of days before leaving for the Reunion Wave Classic the menu button on my videocamera had stopped working. Panic. The menu button is crucial! As the cam was still under warranty it was sent back to Sony for repair. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I received these photos along with an email from Sony stating that the cam was in the worst condition they had seen in years. As it had been used in ‘extreme’ conditions it was not repairable on warranty and they had enclosed quote for £900 for the repairs. The lesson from this is to buy and use a decent protective cover when shooting windsurfing. I usually do, most of this damage occurred in just one day of shooting in Cape Verde without a cover as it was lost in transit. Cheers TAP. When people ask what can they do to get better video footage of windsurfing I used to tell them to always use a tripod now it’s buy a cover for your cam…
